Plantation Garden is a park in a former chalk quarry in Norwich, featuring Gothic fountains, flower beds, open lawns and an Italianate terrace. The space spans three acres and blends different design styles into one unified composition.
Henry Trevor, a furniture maker and Baptist minister, created this garden between 1857 and 1870 as a personal undertaking. He incorporated local flint and decorative bricks into the design, reflecting both his craft skills and his faith.
Visitors use the garden as a peaceful retreat where they can wander among flower beds and experience Victorian design choices firsthand. The different areas show how a garden could reflect the interests and values of its creator.
The site is easy to explore on foot with multiple paths suitable for different walking speeds. Entry points are clearly marked and lead to the main areas of the garden.
