Plas Newydd

Plas Newydd stands on the north bank of the Menai Strait, featuring extensive gardens, parkland, and surrounding woodland with views toward Snowdonia.

The residence dates from 1470 and underwent major modifications in 1793 under architect James Wyatt, who refaced and expanded the structure.

Rex Whistler created a notable trompe-l'oeil painting on the dining room wall during the 1930s, adding artistic significance to the interior.

The National Trust maintains this Grade I listed building, which opens daily from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM and requires approximately two hours to explore.

The grounds contain two prehistoric burial chambers that predate the house, establishing the location's continuous human occupation across millennia.
