Plas Newydd

Plas Newydd is a country house situated on the north bank of the Menai Strait, set within formal gardens and parkland that sweep toward the surrounding woodland. The building commands views across water toward distant mountains, creating a dramatic natural backdrop for the entire property.

The house dates back to the 15th century but underwent significant redesign in the late 1700s when architect James Wyatt refaced and expanded the structure. This transformation gave the building its present appearance and adapted it to contemporary architectural tastes.

The dining room features a remarkable trompe-l'oeil mural painted during the 1930s that creates an illusion of depth on the wall. This artwork stands as a striking example of artistic expression integrated into the home's interior design.
