Chafford Gorges Nature Park, Nature reserve in Chafford Hundred, England.
Chafford Gorges is a nature reserve featuring lakes, meadows, and woodlands connected by walking paths. The park spreads across roughly 200 acres and offers places to observe wildlife and plants throughout the year.
The site developed from three former chalk quarries worked from the late 1700s through the 1800s. These quarries left behind the landscape of gorges and water features that visitors see today.
The Essex Wildlife Trust manages this space and organizes educational activities that help visitors understand the local environment and wildlife. These programs show how the site plays a role in teaching people about nature and conservation in the region.
Park access is from Drake Road where disabled parking spaces are available near the entrance. The nearest train station is about a mile away and can be reached on foot.
The park contains two Sites of Special Scientific Interest: one recognizes the biological diversity at Grays Thurrock Chalk Pit and another protects the rock formations at Lion Pit. These designations highlight the area's value for scientific research and conservation.
