Our Lady of Ransom and the Holy Souls Church, Roman Catholic church in Llandrindod Wells, Wales.
Our Lady of Ransom and the Holy Souls Church is a modern Catholic building in Llandrindod Wells comprising two connected rectangular naves with buff-colored brick walls and aluminum roofing. The designers created a practical layout where both sections can be used together or independently depending on the number of worshippers.
The Catholic mission began in 1907 when Bishop Mostyn invited Jesuits from St Bueno's College to establish the first Catholic presence in central Wales. This founding moment brought organized Catholic life to a region that had previously had no Catholic community.
The west window displays four panels of figurative stained glass that fill the interior with colored light and religious imagery. The forward altar sits on a green marble platform that creates a distinct focal point for worship.
The church welcomes worshippers on Sundays and serves the Diocese of Menevia in the region. Its two connected naves allow flexibility, so visitors may find the space configured differently depending on how many people attend.
The western summer nave was specifically designed to provide extra seating when warmer months bring more visitors to the building. This clever arrangement shows how the space adapts to changing numbers of people throughout the year.
