The Church of St John Lateran features a round tower with a larger diameter than standard, complemented by a south porch and embattled parapet.
Built in 1250, the church merged with Flempton parish in 1589 and subsequently became an interment place for Hengrave Hall residents.
The battlements display intricate flintwork showcasing the arms of de Hemegrave, St Edmund's Bury, and the monogram IHS between Mary and Joseph's initials.
The structure maintains its role as a religious monument while serving as a repository of historical memorials and architectural elements from different periods.
Two faded wall paintings from the early 14th century remain inside, depicting Saint Catherine and an unidentified figure holding a shield.
