Church of St George

Church of St George is a medieval parish church with stone rubble walls and a three-stage tower topped with battlements that rises above the village. Inside, original wooden ceilings feature intricate carved ornaments, and a 14th-century stained glass window adds colour to the space.

The church was founded around 1250 and kept its medieval framework through the centuries. In the early 18th century, major renovations reshaped the interior in a Classical style, yet the original stone walls remained standing.

The interior chapel displays a stone effigy of a medieval knight and tells the story of local noble families who lived in the area for centuries. Visitors can observe this carved memorial and learn about the people who shaped the region over time.

The church is located in the centre of the village and is easily accessible on foot. Visitors should check opening times before visiting, as services are held regularly and access may be limited during worship.

Over several years, villagers created a hand-stitched patchwork map of the parish that hangs inside the church. This collective work shows the deep connection between the building and the people who live nearby.
