Saunton Sands, Sandy beach in North Devon, England.
Saunton Sands extends for three and a half miles along the North Devon coast, framed by extensive sand dunes of Braunton Burrows.
During World War II, military units used the beach as a training ground for landing operations and aircraft takeoffs. RAF transport planes practiced short takeoff and landing techniques on the firm sand.
The location appeared in numerous films, including the 1946 production 'A Matter of Life and Death' and the 2014 movie 'Edge of Tomorrow'.
Access remains open throughout the year, with dogs welcome in all months. A restaurant directly on the beach, a shop, and designated parking areas serve visitors.
On August 3, 1990, this stretch of coast recorded 35.4 degrees Celsius, reaching the highest temperature ever measured in Devon and Cornwall. That record mark still stands today.
