Church of St Laurence, Ramsgate, Medieval church in Ramsgate, England
The Church of St Laurence features a substantial stone tower, flint walls, and early English architectural elements throughout its structure.
Founded in 1062, the church underwent major changes after a lightning strike in 1439, leading to the reconstruction of its tower to the current height.
The east window contains Victorian stained glass that honors Queen Victoria, who attended services at this church during her childhood years.
The church opens to visitors on Saturdays from May to September between 10 AM and 3 PM, with guided tours available monthly from April to October.
The three-and-a-half-acre churchyard contains over 1,400 graves, including the tomb of John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore, and Lady Augusta Murray.
