Brackley Town Hall, Grade II* listed town hall in Market Place, Brackley, England
Brackley Town Hall is a Georgian town hall in Market Place featuring arcaded ground floor spaces and a clock tower crowned with a cupola. The structure includes an assembly room on the first floor and serves today as offices for local government, rental spaces, and commercial units.
The Earl of Bridgewater commissioned this structure in the early 1700s as a market hall to serve the growing town. The building has anchored the centre of Brackley ever since.
Hunting scenes painted by Dean Wolstenholme hang on the interior walls and reflect the local sporting interests of centuries past. These artworks remain part of the building's character and daily atmosphere.
The building is partially open to visitors and includes an elevator for access to the upper floors with modern accessibility features. The exterior is best viewed from Market Place to fully appreciate the clock tower and architectural details.
A major restoration in 2018 introduced new stained glass roundels designed by Rachel Aldridge and installed a bell cast by John Taylor & Co. These additions blend historic preservation with contemporary craft traditions.
