The Gazi Omer Bey Mosque features a central square hall topped with a dome and stands in the commercial center of Livadeia.
Built in the late 1500s during Ottoman rule, this mosque was named after Omer Bey who conquered Livadeia in 1460 under Sultan Mehmed II.
The mosque represents the last remaining structure of three Islamic places of worship that existed in Livadeia during the Ottoman period.
The municipality purchased the building in 2015 for 200,000 euros with plans to transform it into a cultural and tourist destination.
The original prayer room maintains its square shape and dome despite modern additions that altered the exterior structure of the building.
