Ratnagiri Murugan Temple, Hindu temple in Vellore district, India

This temple stands on Ratnagiri hill and features two distinct sanctums dedicated to Lord Murugan in different manifestations alongside his consorts. The structure extends across the hillside at different elevations, with additional shrine spaces integrated throughout.

The sanctuary was built in the 14th century under the guidance of saint Arunagirinathar and later underwent restoration work in the 1980s. These two phases show how the temple has preserved both ancient roots and modern care.

The temple follows Tamil traditions, with all religious ceremonies conducted in the local language and strong connections to regional customs. Daily rituals and festivals reflect practices that the local community has maintained for generations.

The journey from Chennai International Airport takes about 4 to 5 hours, while the approach from Walajapet Railway Junction is much shorter. It is recommended to use local transportation or arrange a guide to safely explore the different levels of the complex.

The complex houses two separate shrines for Lord Ganesha, one at ground level and another at the summit of the hill with different architectural styles. This duality offers visitors two distinct spiritual experiences at different elevations.
