Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple, Narasinghapuram

Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple is a Hindu temple in Narasinghapuram, Tamil Nadu. The complex displays carved pillars in Dravidian style and an inner shrine with gilded details.

The temple arose under the rule of regional Tamil dynasties that spread worship of this deity across their territories. Later renovations in the 19th century preserved the original structure.

The temple name refers to the dual form of the deity honoring both Vishnu's lion incarnation and his consort. Visitors see worshippers breaking coconuts and laying flowers before the statue.

The grounds lie about a two-hour drive north of Chennai in a smaller town. Visitors should wear shoulder-covering clothing and can often walk directly into the inner courtyard.
