St Thomas Cathedral & Bishop House

St Thomas Cathedral is the principal church of the Syro-Malabar Catholic eparchy and serves as the main gathering place for worship in Irinjalakuda. The structure features traditional architectural elements typical of Kerala's Christian heritage and welcomes visitors of all faiths to explore its sacred spaces.

The cathedral developed from the merger of two separate parishes: St George's church founded in 1845 and St Mary's church established in 1880. This combination created the foundation for the religious complex that expanded to serve the growing Catholic community.

The cathedral maintains strong ties with the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel through its connection to the Udaya Provincial House.
