Chengalamma Parameshwari Temple

Chengalamma Parameshwari Temple is a Hindu temple in Nellore, India, dedicated to a regional goddess. The main structure is enclosed by a low stone wall, and inside, columns with simple reliefs stand along the walls of the sanctuary.

The foundation dates back several centuries and originates from the worship of a village guardian deity by local communities. The building was later expanded and took its present form through the support of pilgrims from the region.

The name derives from a local goddess worshipped for protection and prosperity, and devotees bring flowers and fruits as offerings. During certain weeks, families from surrounding areas gather for communal prayer and share simple meals on the forecourt.

The site is open to visitors during daylight hours, and entry is free, with prayers taking place in the morning and evening. It is best to go barefoot inside and wear simple clothing that covers shoulders and legs.

Beneath the wooden beams of the roof hang small bells that chime softly with each breeze, filling the space with gentle sounds. Devotees say this ringing amplifies prayers and announces the presence of the goddess.
