Sextener Rotwand, Mountain summit in Sexten Dolomites, Italy.
The Sextener Rotwand rises to an elevation of 2,965 meters, featuring distinct limestone formations and multiple climbing routes through its rocky terrain.
Michel Innerkofler and Roland von Eötvös achieved the first documented climb of Sextener Rotwand on July 20, 1878, marking a milestone in alpinism.
The mountain carries two names, Croda Rossa di Sesto in Italian and Sextener Rotwand in German, reflecting the bilingual heritage of South Tyrol.
Visitors can access the mountain via the Rot Wand cable car station, with a 1.5-hour hike required to reach the climbing starting point.
The mountain contains remnants of World War I military infrastructure, including tunnels and fortifications from the former front line between Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces.
