Antonio Locatelli Hut

The Antonio Locatelli Hut is a mountain lodge at 2,450 meters with direct views of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the Dolomites. It has 40 beds and a dormitory, serving as a stopping point for hikers crossing this high-altitude terrain.

The hut was built in 1935 and named after Antonio Locatelli, an Italian aviator who died during military service in Ethiopia in 1936. Its construction came as mountain tourism was growing across the Dolomites.

The hut reflects South Tyrolean building styles and food traditions, where regional dishes are part of the experience. Visitors see how mountain life is actually lived and shared through meals here.

Book beds through email starting mid-February for the summer season, as spaces fill quickly due to limited capacity. The lodge is reachable by hiking routes, so plan your arrival timing carefully to ensure you can stay overnight.

The hut sits at a point where three different valleys can be seen from its grounds, giving it strategic value for watching weather shifts across the region. Hikers often stop here to assess conditions in the wider landscape before deciding their next routes.
