Castello Lambertini, Castle in Poggio Renatico, Italy
The Castello Lambertini stands in the center of Poggio Renatico, featuring multiple buildings that merged into a single structure through centuries of architectural evolution.
Originally built in 1650 by the Guastavillani family as a defensive structure, the castle changed ownership to the Lambertini family who transformed it into a noble residence.
The castle transformed from a military fortification into a cultural center, housing municipal offices, a public library, and community services until 2012.
Visitors can access the castle grounds through guided tours organized by FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), which maintains and promotes this national heritage site.
The castle underwent a complete architectural transformation in 1887 by engineer Ruggero Carini, who implemented a neo-Gothic design that replaced its medieval features.
