Spiaggia delle Bombarde

Spiaggia delle Bombarde is a sandy beach in Alghero extending for about one kilometer with soft golden sand and shallow turquoise waters. Rocky outcrops at each end and scattered pine trees create natural boundaries and provide some shaded areas along the shore.

This coastline served as a maritime route in ancient times and attracted pirates who used the sheltered bays for anchorage. During World War II, military operations in the area led to the bombardments that gave the beach its present name.

The beach's name comes from historical bombardments during World War II that affected this stretch of coast. Local restaurants and shops in the surrounding area reflect the Catalan heritage that defines much of Alghero's character.

Parking areas are available near the beach entrance, making it easy to arrive by car and spend as long as you need there. Equipment rental stations along the shore offer sun loungers, umbrellas, and water sports gear if you want to stay active.

The reddish cliffs at each end of the beach contain small caves and crevices revealing geological layers that are millions of years old. These colored rock formations become especially striking at sunset and draw photographers seeking natural light displays.
