Museo archeologico nazionale di Adria, Archaeological museum in Adria, Italy
The Museo archeologico nazionale di Adria is a national archaeological museum in the city center of Adria, in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. It holds artifacts from Greek, Etruscan, and Roman periods, displayed across several rooms organized by era.
The collection traces back to the Bocchi family archive, which the city acquired in 1904 and which contained documents, manuscripts, and archaeological finds. The museum was later established to bring together the full record of settlement in and around this ancient city.
The collection displays black and red Attic ceramics alongside amber objects and Etruscan gold and silver jewelry. These pieces show what kinds of goods reached this part of northern Italy through ancient trade routes.
The museum sits in the town center and is easy to reach on foot from most of the historic core. It is worth checking opening times before your visit, as they can change depending on the season.
One of the most unusual finds is the Tomb of the Biga, dating to the 3rd century BCE, which held a two-wheeled chariot and the bones of three horses buried alongside it. Complete chariot burials of this kind are very rarely found anywhere in Italy.
