Kyōdo-no-Mori

Kyōdo-no-Mori is an open-air museum in Fuchū that spreads across large grounds, featuring both indoor exhibitions and outdoor historic buildings alongside traditional Japanese gardens. The site combines different exhibition spaces with open areas where visitors can explore historical structures and planted grounds.

The museum was established in 1987 and became an important repository for regional artifacts and historic buildings from different periods. Its creation helped preserve the local heritage of this area and make it accessible to the public.

Different sections display local life through agricultural tools, handcrafted items, and rebuilt homes from earlier times. You can see how people once lived and worked in this region.

The grounds are walkable on foot, offering both covered areas for bad weather and open paths between different buildings and gardens. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes since there is considerable walking involved and some paths are uneven.

The grounds also house a planetarium, allowing visitors to move between local history exhibitions and astronomy shows. This blend of regional cultural history with cosmic views creates an unusual museum experience.
