Tamanoi stable, Sumo stable in Adachi, Japan
Tamanoi stable is a training facility for professional sumo wrestlers in the Adachi ward of Tokyo, housed in a white building with Japanese elements. In addition to the main premises in Nishi-Arai, the stable operates further training locations in Osaka, Nagoya, and Kyushu.
The stable was founded by former Sekiwake Tochino-umi and grew over the years into a training ground for successful wrestlers. Several of his protégés reached high ranks within the professional sumo world.
Wrestlers live according to a fixed daily schedule, training together and sharing meals while junior members support the senior ones. This community follows the inherited hierarchies and rules of Japanese sumo sport.
The stable is located in Nishi-Arai in the Adachi ward and conducts regular training sessions there. The facility operates additional sites in three other Japanese cities for the entire tournament season.
The facility maintains its own YouTube channel and social media accounts, through which fans can follow the daily training of the wrestlers. This opens up a usually closed environment to outsiders.
