故鄉銀河線陸別鐵道, Railway museum in Rikubetsu, Japan
The Furusato Ginga Line Railway Museum features preserved train cars and railway equipment along a 5.7-kilometer stretch of former tracks in Hokkaido.
The museum opened in 2008 after inheriting six diesel railcars and tracks from the Hokkaido Chihoku Kogen Railway Furusato Ginga Line, which ceased operations in 2006.
The facility maintains the legacy of Japanese rail transportation through hands-on experiences, allowing visitors to operate diesel locomotives under instructor guidance.
Operating from April through October, the museum offers multiple train driving courses, ranging from 15-minute sessions for children to extended experiences for adults.
The facility holds the record for Japan's longest railway driving experience course, extending 5.7 kilometers between former Rikubetsu and Bunsen stations.
