タキヒヨー丸の内ビル, Office skyscraper in Marunouchi, Nagoya, Japan
The Takihyo Marunouchi Building was an office skyscraper with 25 floors above ground and 3 basement levels located in Nagoya's central business district. The structure contained commercial office space and a dining establishment on its upper floors.
The building was constructed in 1973 as part of Nagoya's early development of modern high-rise architecture in its downtown core. It changed ownership multiple times, first operated by textile manufacturer Takihyo, then sold to Tokyo Marine Insurance.
The rooftop restaurant was where locals came to dine while taking in sweeping views across the city. The space became known as a destination for those wanting to see Nagoya from above while enjoying a meal.
The structure was directly connected to Marunouchi Station with access to both the Tsurumai and Sakura-dori subway lines for easy transit. The nearby Hisaya-odori Station was also within walking distance for visitors arriving from other areas.
The building was completely demolished in 2010 after its elevator systems became inadequate for modern demands and structural concerns about seismic safety emerged. The demolition also allowed for the removal of asbestos materials found within the structure.
