Mount Izumi Katsuragi

Mount Izumi Katsuragi rises to 858 meters in elevation, forming part of the Kongō Range between Osaka and Wakayama Prefectures.

The mountain summit contains the ninth sutra mound of the Katsuragi 28 Shuku, preserving religious artifacts from ancient times.

The mountain holds special status as part of the 100 Famous Kansai Mountains and Osaka 50 Mountains collections, representing regional geographical importance.

Three vehicular routes lead to the summit area, while a Nankai Wing Bus connects Kishiwada Station to the Ushitakiyama trailhead.

The northern slope features Japan's southernmost Japanese beech forest on Honshu island, protected as a national species since 1923.
