Ube Industries, Private road in Ube City, Japan
Ube Industries is a private traffic route in Ube City, Japan, extending about 32 kilometers and connecting Ube City with Mine City. The route features two lanes in each direction and is complemented by a metal bridge more than one kilometer long.
The planning and construction of this connection began in the late 1960s to enable the transport of limestone between the mine and the port. Completion took place in the late 1970s after nearly a decade of construction work.
The route still carries the functional character of a company connection and links different operational sites with one another. Heavy specialized transporters regularly travel here and shape the image of this industrial lifeline.
Access is restricted to operational purposes, so visitors should keep to the public roads in the surrounding area. The bridge and parts of the route can be viewed from a distance at various points in Ube.
This route is considered the longest private road in Japan and was built to the same standards as public highways. The high construction standard allows the use of heavy trucks that are normally permitted only on national motorways.
