The Chihiro Art Museum Azumino contains 18,200 original artworks from 227 artists representing 35 countries in its permanent collection and exhibition spaces.
The museum opened in April 1997 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Chihiro Art Museum Tokyo, establishing a new center for children's art in Nagano Prefecture.
The museum maintains one of the largest international collections of picture book illustrations, promoting global artistic exchange and children's literature appreciation.
Located 2.5 kilometers from Shinano-Matsukawa Station, the museum charges 900 yen for adult admission and closes every fourth Wednesday of the month.
The museum preserves the artistic legacy of Chihiro Iwasaki within a 53,500-square-meter park that includes spaces inspired by children's literature.
