Shirasaki Kaiyo Park is a coastal park in Yura, on the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. White limestone cliffs drop sharply into the Pacific Ocean, giving the site its open and raw character.
The white cliffs along this stretch of coast have shaped the lives of local fishing communities for generations. Severe storms in 2018 caused major damage to the park's facilities, which were later repaired.
The park is easy to reach by car or bus and works well as a day trip from Wakayama City or nearby towns. Those who want to camp or dive should book in advance, as same-day reservations are not accepted.
The park served as the filming location for a music video by Japanese rock singer Hyde, giving it a small place in pop culture history. In summer, fields of sunflowers grow across the park grounds, adding a layer of yellow against the white cliffs and blue sea.
