하나쿠라의 난

하나쿠라의 난, Historical battlefield site at Hanakura Castle, Japan.

Hanakura no Ran was a fortified site positioned on a strategic hilltop in Shizuoka Prefecture. The remaining stone walls and foundations are still visible today, revealing the layout and structure of this defensive location.

The site became the center of a 1615 uprising when Sakamoto Kitaro, a former member of the Toyotomi clan, challenged the Tokugawa shogunate. This rebellion marked a turning point in regional control and power distribution of that era.

The site carries the memory of the Sakamoto family and their challenge to the ruling order of the time. Walking through the grounds, you encounter traces of how power was displayed and defended in this region.

You can reach this site by following a marked hiking trail that begins from a parking area in the Hanakura district. The hillside location means walking is the best way to explore the grounds and see all the remaining structures.

The walls combine defensive techniques with local building methods that reveal regional differences in how fortifications were constructed during this period. This blend makes the site a rare example of how regional powers adapted construction to their own needs and available resources.
