Kansai-kan of the National Diet Library, National library in Seika, Japan
The Kansai-kan contains extensive collections of documents, books, and digital resources across multiple floors in a modern architectural structure near Kyoto Prefecture.
The facility opened its doors in October 2002 as an extension of the National Diet Library, expanding services beyond the main Tokyo location.
Researchers and visitors can access Japanese government publications, academic materials, and historical records through specialized reading rooms and digital archives.
The library operates from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, offering free parking for 200 vehicles and direct bus connections from Shin-Shifuku Station.
The building, designed by Fumio Tōki, received both the BCS Prize and Japan Library Association Architecture Award for its functional design.
