Solid Square, Office skyscraper in Kawasaki, Japan.
Solid Square is a two-tower office complex with 24 floors and glass walls, rising 102 meters in Kawasaki's business district. The buildings contain office spaces and public service facilities spread across multiple levels.
The site was redeveloped in 1995 after housing a Meiji Seika pharmaceutical factory that produced penicillin from 1946 onwards. This transformation reflected the area's shift from medicine manufacturing to modern office use.
The square pattern on the building's exterior refers to old Meiji product designs and connects the structure to the area's industrial past. This reference makes the tower a quiet tribute to local manufacturing traditions.
The complex sits about five minutes on foot from Kawasaki Station and is easy to reach. Government offices inside the building, including the Kanagawa Passport Center, are open to the public and offer various administrative services.
Between the two towers sits a central plaza with a circular pool sheltered by a retractable glass dome. This space works as a public meeting area that adapts to weather conditions throughout the year.
