Ise Site, Archaeological site in Moriyama and Rittō, Japan.

The Ise archaeological complex spans 700 meters east to west and 450 meters north to south, containing foundations of multiple buildings from ancient periods.

Excavations at the site, initiated in 1981, uncovered substantial Yayoi period structures including fortifications with double moats and wooden palisades from the 2nd century.

The foundations reveal an L-shaped arrangement of buildings that served political and ceremonial functions within the historical context of southern Ōmi kingdom.

The site maintains open access to visitors and stands a 10-minute walk from Rittō Station on the JR Central Tōkaidō Main Line.

Archaeological discoveries at Ise include pentagonal pit dwellings that match construction patterns found specifically along Japan's coastal settlements.
