Fundatiehuis, Science and art museum in Haarlem, Netherlands
The Fundatiehuis features a symmetrical facade with three window axes, constructed from natural stone blocks and decorated with friezes and pediments.
Built in 1610, the Fundatiehuis transformed into a museum after the death of Pieter Teyler van der Hulst in 1778, becoming part of Netherlands' first museum.
The museum displays collections of art, scientific instruments, and rare books, reflecting the 18th-century approach to education and knowledge preservation.
Located along the Spaarne River, the museum provides guided tours in multiple languages and maintains regular exhibitions of its extensive collection.
The Oval Room, designed in 1779 by Leendert Viervant, incorporates display spaces within its architecture, featuring oak paneling and domed ceilings.
