Autostrand Oostvoorne

Autostrand Oostvoorne is a wide sandy beach along the North Sea coast nestled in a bay west of the town. The shallow waters and gentle slope create favorable conditions for swimming and water sports.

The beach operated as a vehicle beach from 1929 to 2004, when cars could be driven directly onto the sand. This unusual practice drew massive numbers of visitors, transforming it into a popular roadside destination before it was phased out.

The beach has long been a gathering place for people interested in water sports, particularly kitesurfing, with schools teaching the craft throughout the year. The community of enthusiasts gives the location its distinct identity and rhythm.

A gate at the entrance manages access to the beach, and parking is available near the restaurant Aan Zee, which includes an observation tower. Facilities are straightforward and the area is easy to navigate on foot.

The bay's protected waters and shallow depth make it an ideal learning ground for beginner kitesurfers, who benefit from consistently manageable conditions. This has helped establish the location as a recognized teaching hub for the sport.
