From 1929 until 2004, vehicles were permitted to drive directly onto the beach, leading to significant visitor numbers reaching 6000 cars daily in 1965.
The location serves as a meeting point for water sports enthusiasts, with multiple kitesurfing schools operating throughout the seasonal periods.
A barrier controls access to the beach, with parking facilities available near the restaurant Aan Zee, which includes an observation tower.
The shallow waters and consistent conditions in the bay create an environment particularly suitable for beginner kitesurfers to learn the sport.
