Sprookjesbos Valkenburg

Sprookjesbos Valkenburg is a theme park built along the slope of Heunsberg mountain, featuring fairy tale scenes, mechanical figures, and children's attractions spread across wooded pathways. The site divides into five themed zones including Castelaria, Fairy Forest, Farm Valley, Pirates Mountain, and Ville d'Eureka.

The park was founded in 1950 by a businessman as a gift for his young daughter, making it one of the world's oldest theme parks. This early venture positioned it as a pioneer in children's entertainment parks.

The fairy tale displays here reflect traditional European stories told through playful scenes that children can explore. Handcrafted stone and plaster figures bring each story to life along the woodland paths.

The grounds sit on a hillside, so visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow time to explore the various pathways at a leisurely pace. Restaurant Grietje serves as the main dining spot where families can rest during their visit.

Natural limestone caves at the entrance invite visitors to wander through independently and discover a small museum explaining how these geological formations developed. This natural wonder adds a layer of geological interest to the playful park experience.
