Ketelhaven

Ketelhaven is a residential settlement in Dronten built on a dike that includes seven pioneer houses, two marinas, and a villa community. The settlement houses roughly 620 residents and provides amenities such as a heated outdoor pool, tennis courts, and vacation bungalows for visitors.

Ketelhaven arose from land reclamation efforts that transformed the Ketelmeer region into habitable land in Flevoland province. This settlement developed as part of a coordinated water management project that expanded living space in the area.

The settlement was built by pioneers who chose to establish themselves in a newly created landscape, and this founding story continues to shape how residents connect with each other today. Traditions like the local choir and community sports events remain central to how neighbors interact.

The location sits on waterfront and is accessible by local roads and cycling paths, making it easy to move through the area. Visitors should note that while it is primarily a private residential community, public spaces like the dike are accessible.

Near Ketelhaven sits an artificial island called IJsseloog where two canals meet and a historic pumping station manages water levels for the area. This overlooked spot gives insight into how the region controls its water systems.
