Volkerak locks

The Volkerak locks connect multiple waterways, managing water levels between the Volkerak waterway and the surrounding maritime network in North Brabant.

The locks were constructed as an integral component of the Delta Works project, which transformed the Volkerak from a tidal river into a freshwater lake in 1987.

These locks represent Dutch engineering excellence in water management, demonstrating the nation's long-standing relationship with controlling and utilizing water systems.
