Hemsedal Stave Church

Hemsedal Stave Church is a medieval wooden structure in Hemsedal Municipality built from vertical wooden posts connected by horizontal beams in a traditional Nordic style. The building features steeply pitched roofs and an interior layout designed for religious gatherings.

The church was built in the 12th century as a religious center for the local community and remained in active use for nearly seven centuries before being dissolved in 1882. This extended period of service reflects the building's importance to the region.
