Kopiec Powstania Warszawskiego, Memorial mound in Mokotów district, Poland.
Kopiec Powstania Warszawskiego is an artificial mound in the Mokotów district that rises 35 meters above the surrounding area. Wide stairs lead to an observation platform at the top where visitors can see across the entire city.
The mound formed after 1945 from rubble transported during Warsaw's reconstruction from building sites to the Czerniaków area. This debris deposit gradually became an observation point that began to document the city's rebuilding.
Plaques at the summit commemorate soldiers and residents who died during World War II. The site serves as a place where visitors reflect on the city's difficult past and remember those affected by the conflict.
You reach the top using the stairs from Bartycka Street near the 'W' Hour Avenue entrance. The site is open year-round with free access for everyone.
Gabions built into the mound's sides display actual ruins of Warsaw, creating an exhibition path through the site. These physical remains tell the story of debris that was preserved as a memorial.
