Chojnów Landscape Park, aire protégée de Pologne
Chojnów Landscape Park is a large protected natural area south of Warsaw, covering over 6,700 acres and crossed by rivers, lakes, fields, and forests. The territory is divided into three sections by the Jeziorka and Zielona rivers and contains six designated nature reserves, including Zimne Doły and Uroczysko Stephana.
The park was established in 1993 to protect the natural habitats and landscape character of this region. The area also bears traces of the past, with war cemeteries from the Second World War and traditional manor houses that document centuries of human settlement.
The park takes its name from the nearby village of Chojnów and was created to protect the area's natural character and local way of life. Visitors can observe how traditional villages and old manor houses fit into the landscape, showing how rural communities have shaped and lived within this natural setting over time.
The area is easily reached by car or train, with stops at Zalesie Górne or Piaseczno, from which marked trails lead through the park. Visitors should bring comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, an offline map, and insect repellent, while following the rules: stay on paths, do not pick plants, and keep noise low.
The area contains over 600 plant species, including protected orchids and lilies of the valley, and about 100 bird species. Visitors can observe herons, storks, kingfishers, and woodpeckers here, some rare or passing through during migration.
