Church of the Bernardine Friars in Rzeszów

The Church of the Bernardine Friars is a brick building in central Rzeszów with a distinctive red facade and multiple gabled roofs, featuring stone architectural details. The complex consists of the church structure and surrounding monastery buildings that form an enclosed courtyard at its center.

Construction of the church began in 1624 under the patronage of Mikołaj Spytek Ligęza, replacing an earlier wooden structure that had housed a venerated statue of the Virgin Mary. The new stone building provided a more permanent and dignified setting for this important religious site.

The church draws pilgrims who come to venerate the famous statue of the Virgin Mary that has been housed here for centuries, making it a significant religious destination. Over time, the place has become a center where people gather to practice their devotion and experience spiritual moments together.
