Description
Rzeszów is a large city in southeastern Poland that stretches along the Wisłok River between the Carpathian foothills and the Sandomierz Basin. The city sits at around 384 meters (about 1260 feet) elevation, connecting flat agricultural land with gently rising forested hills to the south, giving the cityscape a sense of shifting elevations.
History
King Casimir the Great granted the settlement town rights in 1354, and it grew into a major trading post linking Poland and Hungary. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the town prospered from the flow of goods and the protection of fortified walls, which were defended repeatedly against invaders.

People gather in the old town square throughout the year for outdoor markets, concerts, and seasonal festivals that mark the rhythm of local life.
