The Lubomirski Summer Palace is a Baroque palace in Rzeszów, built in the late 17th century with three floors, decorative pilasters, and large windows along its facade. The floor plan forms an H shape, with a central hall that rises through two stories.
The palace was designed and built in the 1690s by the Dutch architect Tylman van Gameren for Hieronim Augustyn Lubomirski. A major renovation carried out between 1738 and 1746 updated its appearance to match the tastes of the time.
The Lubomirski family used this residence as their summer retreat, shaping the social life of the city's aristocratic circles. The grounds were designed in the French style, reflecting the cosmopolitan tastes of its wealthy owners.
The building stands on Dekerta Street, close to Rzeszów Castle, and is easy to reach on foot from the city center. It has housed the Regional Medical Chamber since 2013, so it is worth contacting them in advance if you want to visit the interior.
Tylman van Gameren, the architect behind this palace, was Dutch by origin but spent most of his career in Poland, where he shaped much of the country's Baroque architecture. The H-shaped plan he used here was a recurring feature in his work, applied across several buildings he designed in Poland.
