Rezerwat przyrody Zimna Woda, Protected forest reserve in Lubusz Voivodeship, Poland
Zimna Woda is a protected forest reserve in Lubusz Voivodeship covering approximately 89 hectares of dense woodland. The area features black alder, ash, oak, and birch trees growing in moist soil conditions that support this mixed forest composition.
The reserve was established in 1959 with an initial protected area of about 32 hectares. It expanded in 1989 when additional forest land was added to the protection designation to preserve its ecological value.
The reserve includes the President's Road, also referred to as the Royal Road, which features substantial oak and ash trees along its path.
A marked blue hiking trail follows the reserve's perimeter, allowing visitors to observe the protected forest and its various tree species. The path is straightforward to follow and provides good opportunities to see the woodland vegetation.
The area is home to over 230 vascular plant species and experiences regular spring flooding that creates specific wetland conditions. These seasonal water level changes are responsible for shaping how vegetation adapts to wet soil.
