Nature Reserve Zimny Dół, Nature reserve in Czułów, Poland
Nature Reserve Zimny Dół is a small protected area on the eastern slope of a ravine descending toward the Sanka Valley, defined by limestone formations. Stone structures create maze-like passages that characterize the terrain.
The site lies within the Tenczynek Hills and was separated from the main upland by the tectonic depression of the Krzeszowice Trench. These geological processes shaped the landscape and enabled the development of this protected natural area.
The name refers to the winter chill that intensifies in this ravine, creating singular conditions for specialized plant life adapted to the site. Protected species thrive among the limestone formations that define the landscape and set it apart from surrounding areas.
Access to the reserve starts from the parking area near the church in Czułów, where a marked trail leads visitors through the site. The walk passes through uneven ground and narrow passages between the rocks, requiring care on the terrain.
An underground stream originates in a cave within the reserve and flows through narrow gorges that resemble miniature canyons. This karst feature creates a rare landscape formation that makes the place distinctive.
