Wołowiec

Wołowiec is a 776-meter peak in the Wałbrzych Mountains featuring steep eastern and western slopes. The northern side drops sharply toward the neighboring Mały Wołowiec, creating a distinctive ridgeline across the landscape.

The mountain was formed through volcanic activity and consists mainly of effusive rocks shaped into a conical structure. This geological development created the ridge that defines the landscape today.

The mountain serves as a central point for regional hiking activities, where local residents and visitors gather to explore the natural surroundings.

Multiple marked trails lead to the summit, with the blue route from Wałbrzych to Sokołowsko serving as the main access. Good footwear is essential due to steep sections, and caution is needed on wet terrain.

Two railway tunnels, each over 1500 meters long, pass beneath the adjacent Mały Wołowiec peak. These passages represent remarkable engineering accomplishments from the 1870s that run through the mountain.
