Rokitnica Castle

The stone fortification stands on the right bank of the Kaczawa River, with remaining wall fragments revealing its rectangular layout of 38 by 44 meters.

Built in the early 13th century by Duke Henry I the Bearded, the castle served as a customs chamber on the Legnica-Lwówek Śląski route until 1451.

The castle walls witnessed the presence of Saint Hedwig of Silesia, who frequented this location with her husband Duke Henry I in the 13th century.

Visitors can reach the castle ruins through a path lined with oak trees, with parking available on the road from Rokitnica toward Prusice.

The regular rectangular plan of this 13th-century structure distinguishes it as one of the earliest stone castles constructed in Polish territories.
