Kopalnia Złota Aurelia w Złotoryi, Gold mine museum in Złotoryja, Poland.
The Aurelia mine extends 100 meters underground through tunnels carved in diabase rock, displaying iron ore deposits and mining equipment from different periods.
The initial tunnel construction dates back to 1661, leading to the discovery of older mining passages from the 14th and 15th centuries beneath Mount St Nicholas.
The museum presents exhibits about mining techniques, tools, and geological features while offering educational programs about the regional mining traditions.
Tours run from May through September, Wednesday to Sunday between 10 AM and 4 PM, with protective helmets provided for groups of eight people.
Analysis of historical records reveals that miners processed 54 tons of sand to extract just 10.6 grams of gold from the deposits near Mount St Nicholas.
