Rytro Castle, Medieval castle ruins in Rytro, Poland

The stone fortress stands on a 463-meter hill above the Poprad River valley, featuring cylindrical tower and defensive walls.

Built in the 13th century, the castle served as a customs checkpoint and received royal visitors including King Casimir the Great and King Władysław Jagiełło.

The castle structure reflects the medieval architectural traditions of Lesser Poland, incorporating both military defense elements and noble residence features.

The castle grounds remain open for visitors throughout the day without entrance fees, with a parking area available at the foot of the hill.

Local records mention a hidden treasure in the castle's underground corridors, supposedly guarded by a supernatural dog with the appearance of a rooster.
