Szreńsk Castle, Gothic castle ruins in Szreńsk, Poland
The castle foundations and four defensive towers remain visible among the wetlands, surrounded by moats fed by the Przypalenica and Mławka rivers.
Built in 1526 by Felix Szreński, the castle served as a Swedish garrison during the 1656-1657 Northern War, hosting visits from King Charles X Gustav.
The castle ruins represent the architectural heritage of northern Mazovia region, protected by the Polish cultural heritage register as a testament to medieval fortifications.
The castle grounds remain accessible to visitors throughout the day and night, with remnants of the original Gothic foundations visible beneath the 19th-century modifications.
The castle structure incorporated existing earthwork defenses, resulting in an oval-shaped layout that integrated naturally with the surrounding marshland terrain.
