Castle in Lipa Górna is a stone fortress on a hill about 375 meters above the Mała Nysa River, with walls that still stand several meters high in many places. The structure contains different sections from various periods, including old gates and window frames that have survived through the centuries.
The fortress was built between the 13th and 14th centuries and served as a watchtower for Silesian knights along an important trade route. Over the centuries, it suffered multiple destructions and reconstructions that shaped its present form.
The name comes from linden trees that once covered the hillside where the fortress was built. Walking through the ruins today, visitors can observe how 17th-century renovations added new architectural layers to the original medieval design.
The ruins are reached via a marked forest path from the village center, but require careful footing due to unstable structures and loose stones. Good footwear and attention are important since the terrain is uneven and some areas are risky.
The walls bear traces of four distinct building phases, including Gothic-style doorways and Renaissance window frames. These remains show how different eras left their mark without completely replacing what came before.
